What is BMX made of?

Extreme skiing requires a special set of materials and parts so that the machine can withstand loads, falls, hard landings. This two-wheeler must be strong, light, maneuverable. Based on this, the manufacturer changed the standards of the bike.

The main differences and advantages of BMX:

Frame

The basis of an extreme bike is a rigid base made of special pipes (butting technology), low and often elongated. The steering wheel for the reliability of the design has an additional stiffener (kerchief). The rear wheel is attached to the seat post and the top tube of the frame at the same time.

The bed should not be heavy, it is believed that for professionals the maximum weight is 3 kg. For beginners, a heavier model is suitable: you need to learn stability, not jump above your skills. With the advent of experience, you can think about less weight of the structure.

wheels

Tires are small - no more than 20 inches on 36 and 48 spokes. The wheels themselves are made as strong as possible, the axle is reinforced. Small wheels lighten the design and make it easy to control the bike.

Tubes (pegs) are attached to the axles to support the legs during tricks. The same pegs glide along the surfaces of railings and other surfaces. The load on the axle is very powerful, therefore, special requirements are imposed on the wheels: only industrial bearings are needed in this unit.

Steering wheel

The steering wheel does not have any cables, because it must spin 360 degrees in both directions. An additional crossbar is attached to the base of the steering wheel, this adds rigidity.

Extreme bikes have handlebars of different geometry:

• classic - one curved pipe and a crossbar;
• four-element - independent pipes welded from different sides to the central crossbar, reinforced with a crossbar;
• with a low crossbar - where there is no heavy load, but high tuning accuracy is needed.

Brake

The braking systems of velomotocross are Y- or U- brake pads. Experienced bikers, confidently working at speed, generally remove the brakes. To prevent the brake cable from twisting while turning the steering wheel, a gyrorotor is installed on the baymix. This mechanism has bearings and splitters that do not allow twisting.

Pedals

The main support for the cyclist's legs is studded pedals. The coupling of shoes with the pedal is very important when performing combinations. A slipped foot is a loss of control over the bike.

Pedals differ in material:

• plastic is light, but breaks faster.

It is better to use industrial bearings in pedals. Bulk ones will do for beginners, but with increasing loads they will quickly fail.

Saddle
