And now the first parameters and photos of the future novelty have appeared on the Internet, which with absolute certainty will become popular among phones of the middle price segment in 2019, according to the reviews of the brand's fans. And yes, no matter how upsetting it is, the owners of the Mi A2, Note 5 Pro and other similar phones may burst into tears, because the price of the new model will be only slightly more expensive.

Productive novelty presented formally. In short, the developers from China managed to meet expectations and even surpass them. The device is equipped with an incredible package for its value, through which it can duplicate the success of the top RN4. Here, users have a solid battery, and a chic processor, and an innovative 48 MP camera module, as well as many other chips, which will be discussed below.

Design and screen

The device is made of a glass shell with a frame made of metal materials. On the front side there is a IPS screen with a 6.3-inch diagonal, the format of which is FHD+. The proportions are 19.5:9. The NTSC color zone range is 84%. The sharpness limit is 450 nits, and the contrast is 1,500 to 1. The thickness of the frame on the sides of the screen is 1.95 mm, which is similar to Apple's iPhone X. Of course, the developers of Xiaomi Corporation have identified this highlight.The matrix of the phone is protected by a reliable and durable glass Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The novelty has acquired a twin rear camera, located at the top left, of course, behind the smartphone. In addition, a biometric scanner is visible from the rear side. The front camera is located in a protrusion made in the form of a drop. It is advisable to highlight that instead of the usual “Mi” logo, the device has acquired a new Redmi trademark logo, made in the form of the “Redmi by Xiaomi” inscription.

I was pleased with the convenient placement of parts on the edges. The phone has an infrared port and a slot for a headset. But what pleasantly surprised me was the appearance of the “C” type connector in the phones of this series. The new model supports functioning with two SIM cards. The dimensions of the new model are 159.2x75.2x8.1 mm. There is a flash drive port. Despite the fact that the phone has been repeatedly tested for resistance, it does not have any auxiliary protection licenses, or, in any case, they were not noted, which is hard to believe.

Performance and memory

The 660 chipset from Snapdragon, which was released in 2018, has become the key power of the novelty for active games. The smartphone is available with 64 and 128 GB of ROM. The novelty is equipped with 6 GB of RAM. To increase the main memory, there is a specialized slot for a microSD flash drive. The new model comes with Android 9 Pie based on MIUI 10.

At the conference, the Redmi brand compared the phone's nimbleness with OPPO's K1. It turned out that Snapdragon's 660 chip in the Note 7 scored 144,599 on the AnTutu benchmark, while OPPO's K1 and Vivo's X23 scored 133,961 and 128,616 respectively. Redmi representatives say that their new product even outperformed Honor's 8X phone, which is equipped with Kirin's 710 gaming processor.

Camera

The front camera is based on a 13 MP photographic module and supports AII algorithms. In addition to the 48 MP module, an additional 5 MP scanner is installed in the rear camera for depth assessment. It is also equipped with artificial intelligence options, which manifests itself in the identification of shooting scenarios with a further exposure configuration. The lens has aperture 2.0 (6 glasses).

As for the 48 MP module, as expected, it was Samsung's GM1 with a matrix size of ½ and a pixel size of 0.8 microns, and not the Sony IMX586 installed in the flagships of Huawei and Honor. In Super Pixel mode, which involves merging the nearest four pixels into one, the photographic module of the novelty takes pictures at a resolution of 12 MP.

A battery is installed inside, the capacity of which is 4,000 mAh. The phone is also the first Redmi-branded smartphone to feature a USB-C slot with fast charging 4.0 option. But fast charging, the power of which is 18 W (purchased separately), makes it possible to replenish the battery charge by 100% in only 1 hour 43 minutes.
