Smartphone Samsung Galaxy A30 - advantages and disadvantages

The last day of February 2019 is notable for the fact that Samsung will present its new line of smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2019, which will be held in Barcelona.

The hero of our review will be the Samsung Galaxy A30 smartphone, we will consider the advantages and disadvantages, specifications, average price, equipment and other parameters.

We will also make a comparison with the closest competitors of the novelty - the A10 and A50 devices, so that users can understand which model is better to buy from this trio.

Specifications Galaxy A30

To date, almost all the technical information on the Galaxy A series of phones is known.

Appearance

The smartphone will be equipped with a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a small bezel at the bottom of the screen and a drop-shaped protrusion for the front camera at the top.From experience, regarding the Galaxy S series, we can say that the brightness of such a screen in the sun suits not everyone and it is not ideal. Moreover, these types of screens consume a lot of energy, shortening battery life.

Diagonal screens A10 and A50 will be 6.2 and 6.4 inches, respectively. The device will have body dimensions of 158.5 * 74.5 * 7.7 mm.

Materials - glass front surface (Gorilla Glass) and plastic back and side panels. Actually, the design is called “3D Glossy Plastic”.

Although there are practically no high-quality renderings with Samsung Galaxy A smartphones on the Web, the color scheme is already known. The A 30 will be available in black, navy blue and white, as will the A50. Galaxy A10 will appear only in gold and black colors.

On the back of the A30 will be a fingerprint scanner. A50 can be unlocked by simply touching the screen. As far as we know, the A10 does not have a fingerprint scanner, but Face-Unlock will be present.

Screen

The “usable” surface will occupy 85.1% of the screen. The resolution is rather weak for a modern device - 1080 * 2340 pixels, however, it is quite enough for the human eye. The aspect ratio is 19.5:9, the resolution is 403 pixels per inch.

Memory

The phone is presented in two trim levels - with 64 GB of internal memory and 4 GB of RAM - in a more advanced version, against 32 and 3 GB - in a simpler one.

For the Galaxy A10, only a 3/32 GB modification is available, for the A50 - 4/64 GB and 6/128 GB.
Also, the A30, like the A50, has a slot for installing a microSD card up to 512 GB, and the A10, unfortunately, is deprived of this possibility.

cameras

The main rear camera is dual, 16 megapixels, f / 1.9 aperture and 5 megapixels with f / 2.2. There is an LED flash, the ability to take panoramic photos, HDR mode. Video is shot in 1080p resolution, 30 fps.

Front or selfie camera - single, 16 megapixels with f / 1.9. There is also an HDR mode and video shooting in 1080p, also at 30 fps.

Note that the Galaxy A10 model will become the owner of a single main camera with 13 megapixels with f / 1.9, and the A50 will have a triple with 25 megapixels f / 1.7 + 5 megapixels f / 2.2 + 8 megapixels f / 2.4.

Their fronts will also have significant differences. So, the A10 has a 5 megapixel camera with f / 2.0, while the A50 has a 25 megapixel camera with f / 2.0.

Unfortunately, it is not yet known how the Galaxy A30 smartphone takes pictures during the day in good light, and, moreover, how it takes pictures at night. Unfortunately, none of the bloggers, and even more so, of ordinary users, has not yet tried the device in business, respectively, it is impossible to find an example of a photo at the moment.

Here I recall a meme from the expanses of social networks that it is worth banning Android owners from posting their photos. Alas, the image quality really leaves much to be desired in non-flagship models. Despite the fact that both Samsung and Apple are the best manufacturers, going almost on a par in everything, the cameras of the latter, regardless of the novelty of the model and its price category, are an order of magnitude better. We hope that the South Korean manufacturer is aware of this problem and will eliminate it in the new line. In the meantime, the sharpness of the pictures is lame, and the focus does not always work as it should.

Filling

The smartphone will ship out of the box with Android OS, version 9.0 (Pie), which means that there will be no unnecessary and often unnecessary presets for users.

The A30 uses the Exynos 7904 Octa chipset previously found on the Galaxy M20. Octa-core was chosen as the central processor for the smartphone, which includes 2 cores at 1.8 GHz “Kryo 260 Gold” and 6 at 1.6 GHz “Kryo 260 Silver”. Given these parameters, we can expect that the performance of the device will be quite high.

The graphics processor of the device is Mali-G71 MP2. Recall that it was installed in some flagship models in 2017, as well as in a number of Chinese smartphones.

A more powerful processor - Exynos 9610 with a clock speed of 2.3 GHz - will have the A50, so it is more suitable, for example, for games. Of course, a simpler processor will be installed in the A10 - Exynos 7884 V, at 1.6 GHz.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy A30 will be equipped with a 4000 mAh non-removable lithium polymer battery. For comparison, with a diagonal of 5 inches, this power is enough for 25 hours of work in reading mode, or 14 hours of video playback, or 7 hours of gaming. Accordingly, given that the display in this model is much larger, the model is hardly suitable for active games, as it will be discharged quickly enough.

Of the pluses, we note the presence of a 15 W Type-C fast charging function, which will significantly reduce the time it takes to recharge a battery of this size to its original level (9-10 hours).

As for the A10 and A50 smartphones, they will also be equipped with 4000 mAh batteries.

Equipment

Reflections on the configuration will be rather abstract.We focus on previous models, because Samsung, as a rule, is conservative in such things.

Probably, the kit will fit in a classic black box. Also, users will find documentation there - instructions and a guarantee, a clip for the SIM and microSD slot, a Type-C 2.0 USB cable (the length of the cord is not yet known), as well as a charging unit, headphones, a set of interchangeable ear pads and, possibly, various adapters.

Device cost

There is still no definite information on the price. At a minimum, we can say for sure that the A series is not a flagship, and therefore not very expensive. And, given that the A10, 30 and 50 models are brand new, it is unlikely that the prices will be quite budgetary.

On the Internet, users are actively estimating how much such a device costs, taking into account the components involved.

So, the Galaxy A10 device is estimated at about 7-8 thousand rubles, the A30 - at 15 thousand, and the A50 should budget up to 25 thousand. Probably, in order for the popularity of models not to fall, the company will not raise prices. But, is it really so - we will find out very soon.

Where is it profitable to buy a smartphone

As noted above, until February 28, the smartphone will not be available for sale anywhere. But, a little later, the novelty will appear both in regular and online stores.
