smartphone LG K50S

LG is always bright, so the new smartphone is presented in two colors: classic black (New Aurora Black) and bright blue or Moroccan blue (New Moroccan Blue).

Nothing striking in the external design is noticed. Comfortable dimensions (165.8 * 77.5 * 8.2) are in harmony with the screen diagonal. The frames framing the display do not cause visual discomfort. The front camera occupies a standard place in the drop-shaped notch at the top of the front panel. The back panel is the body color carrier. A distinctive feature of this model will be the main camera, which consists of a trio (13 megapixels, 5 megapixels, 2 megapixels), located horizontally in the center of the "back" of the phone. There is also a place for a fingerprint scanner below. At the bottom there is a large logo of the manufacturer's company.

The manufacturer promises increased durability of the smartphone case (MIL-STD 810G standard). This automatically increases its merits. Before getting damaged, the phone can be dropped many times without dire consequences. Such a device can be safely purchased for children and adolescents.

Advantages:
  • Convenient size and weight (179 g);
  • There are options for choosing colors;
  • The strengthened case, high-quality materials of assembly.
Flaws:
  • Port for recharging an obsolete version (microUSB 2.0).

Screen LG K50S

Display IPS LCD capacitive touch. High color rendering (up to 16 million colors and shades). The diagonal size is 6.5 inches, which is 105.5 cm2. The screen occupies an area of about 82.1% of the total body size of the device. The frame design is standard: the side frames are narrow, the top one has a drop-shaped notch for the selfie camera, the bottom one is wider, but this does not cause visual inconvenience and, on the contrary, creates an additional effect of increasing the display size.

The harmonious aspect ratio of 19 to 9 is another advantage that allows the user to work comfortably with different content. It will be equally convenient to view video and photo files, just read or scroll through the pages of sites.

Advantages:
  • Large screen, not burdened with wide frames;
  • Harmonious aspect ratio;
  • Good pixel resolution for the specified price level;
  • Good color reproduction and image brightness.
Flaws:
  • For the middle link, all display characteristics are at the highest level, so no shortcomings were found.

Platform and Memory

The smartphone is equipped with a Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22 processor, which is designed for mid-range devices. It is made using 12 nm technology, which, combined with 3 GB of RAM, is enough to run standard applications.If we talk about gaming parameters, then this device is hardly suitable for gamers, because its capabilities are only not heavy in weight and not entirely new games. Yes, and the PowerVR GE8320 GPU in the kit indicates limited abilities in this sense. This chipset supports the artificial intelligence system at a fairly primitive level. The maximum that is possible is face recognition.

Memory sizes (3GB + 32GB) provide certain advantages. For those who will not have enough built-in memory, a separate expansion slot is provided (up to 1 TB).

Advantages:
  • The chipset is manufactured using a 12 nm process technology;
  • Standard app usage options are available;
  • Sufficient amount of RAM and built-in memory;
  • SD card expansion has a separate slot;
  • Additional external memory can be up to 1 TB.
Flaws:
  • Limited playability;
  • Weak graphics;
  • Primitive artificial intelligence.

Operating system

The Android 9.0 operating system is an additional stability and increased speed performance. In this particular case, the operating system improves the quality of photo files and increases the battery life of the smartphone.

Desktop menu, comfortable transitions between and within applications, improved content of notifications and many other improvements that make the work more convenient and practical.

Advantages:
  • Improvements in screen brightness control;
  • The screen lock mode has been updated and allows you to disable biometric recognition once;
  • The adaptive battery enhances battery power by conserving and using power for frequently used applications.
Flaws:
  • None.

LG K50S cameras

The main camera is located horizontally on the rear panel in its upper part. This is a harmonious trio, where each "eye" performs its own special task. The 13-megapixel sensor has an f/2.2 aperture and successfully handles standard wide-format photos in quite decent quality. The five-megapixel sensor perfectly complements the capabilities of the previous one, helping to expand its capabilities (improves zoom, clarity and bokeh effect). The third 2-megapixel sensor with f/2.4 lens aperture is responsible for the depth of the picture and the distance of objects in photos and videos. With the efforts of all three components, the rear camera copes well with the quality of photo and video shooting in bright daylight. At dusk and at night, the quality limps. Taking into account all the presented parameters of a mid-range smartphone, we can confidently say that the quality is at an acceptable level, but far from ideal.

The front camera is single, has a classic location in the cutout on the upper side of the frame above the display. She got a 13 megapixel kit with a lens aperture of f / 2.0. Such parameters make it possible to shoot selfies of sufficient quality in bright light. Video at 1080p at 30 frames per second will suit the undemanding user who agrees with the average quality.

In general, the parameters of both cameras correspond to a device of this level. You should not expect something supernatural where it cannot be. An acceptable result is what should be at the level of the proposed cost of a smartphone.

Advantages:
  • The rear camera is a combination of three separate sensors that together create tolerable pictures and videos;
  • LED flash adjusts the brightness of the lighting and makes it possible to shoot in the dark;
  • Decent front camera resolution.
Flaws:
  • The quality of the pictures is largely dependent on the lighting;
  • Slow focusing speed on the subject;
  • In order to get improved "bokeh", you need to resort to external applications.

Battery and offline capabilities

The smartphone is equipped with a lithium-polymer battery, which is not removable. Important parameters are a large volume (4000 mAh) and low self-discharge rates. Autonomous work for 7-8 hours in the active mode of use. In standby mode, the battery can hold a charge for several days. If the device is used only for conversations, without spending energy on applications and the Internet, then the battery life can be more than 20 hours.

Advantages:
  • Battery capacity;
  • Low self-discharge;
  • In different modes of operation, autonomy is of sufficient duration.
Flaws:
  • No fast battery charging.

Communications and characteristics of sensors

When using mobile communication, 2G, 3G, 4G are available. You can set the network type priority. Wi-Fi 802.11 WLAN technology, dual-band high-speed with the ability to distribute to access points. Bluetooth 5.0 reduces power consumption for peripherals. GPS and NFC functions are available. There is no conventional radio. There is a standard 3.5 mm mini-jack for connecting headphones. The downside is the outdated USB port (2.0)

Of the available sensors, an accelerometer (control of inclinations and movements), a fingerprint scanner (reliable additional protection for the device), a proximity sensor (responsible for turning off the screen when the smartphone approaches the face).

Advantages:
  • All network types are supported with the ability to configure the discovery priority;
  • Fast WiFi;
  • The latest version of bluetooth;
  • There are GPS and NFC;
  • All essential sensors are used.
Flaws:
  • USB 2.0 port, so fast charging and transfer speed is not possible.

The LG K50S smartphone was created by the manufacturer as a mid-range device, both in terms of cost and power. You shouldn't expect much from him. But, at the same time, all the vital functions are included in the kit and all the parameters that make the device acceptable for use are available. LG attracts more and more consumers of the widest range with average financial capabilities.

We can safely say that the LG K50S will become a worthy representative of a well-known brand. Even if it has some shortcomings, which more than compensates for the affordability of the price.
