Full review of Lenovo M10 FHD REL tablet

Colleagues at work with Lenovo, and at school children buried themselves in Lenovo. At the bus stop, at the grocery store, and quite possibly already in your home - Lenovo. Such was the picture of Russian realities no more than 5 years ago. It was a real explosion in sales of Chinese gadgets! However, how are things at the moment? The noise has almost subsided, the right to unexpected changes in the field of wireless telecommunications has passed to Xiaomi and Oppo, and a serious question arises in itself: where did everyone's favorite mid-range price and luxury quality go?

Let's talk about Lenovo's star disease and find out if the developers have lost their flair for productive equipment using the example of the brand new Lenovo M10 FHD REL tablet right now!

How are you, Lenovo?

Did you know that at the end of 2018 the power of the brand reached its peak, and since then it has gradually faded away? It is easy to follow the assortment of Russian communication stores. Now smartphones are still appearing on the shelves, but there is no such excitement as 2 years ago.

The brand's largest revenue was $14 million in Q3 2019. At the same time, most of the money came not from phones, but from tablets and laptops. So, following the innovator Samsung, Lenovo presented an amazing laptop with two screens and one of the most powerful processors at that time. Almost nothing is known about this in the CIS countries, because the average price for unique devices has doubled (if not tripled). Not every resident of a city with a million population is ready to pay $1200 for a novelty. For this reason, Lenovo almost disappeared in Russia, but still promised to return.

Now the company is doing well, albeit rather quietly. The latest release of the Lenovo M10 FHD REL tablet did not cause much excitement, but if we judge all the gadgets by the level of hype, then we might never have known about Honor or the good old Nokia.

Design

The nimble M10 FHD REL tablet runs on the penultimate version of Android 9.0 (pie). The device has a typical shape - a rectangle with slightly cut edges and small frames around the screen, the diagonal of which, by the way, was 10.1 inches. For this reason, it is easy to print and sketch on it. A tablet is also suitable for working with photos (namely viewing).

The back cover is made of matte plastic, while the traces of dry hands do not remain at all, and problems can arise only with wiping the gadget.As for the screen, no additional protective coating or factory glass is expected, so you will have to take care of the beauty of the purchase yourself.

However, the tablet is on the border of the average price category and budget, which is why it is not worth judging the developers too harshly for the minuses.

The case is not littered with anything, the main camera is represented by only one module in the upper right corner. The front camera is also almost invisible on the front. It is worth warning in advance that the M10 FHD REL is not designed for photographs, the pictures will turn out to be weak and of poor quality. The stylus is also missing in the box. On the one hand, this is an extra $100 in the piggy bank, and on the other hand, the functions of the device are significantly reduced.

The general appearance of the novelty inspires confidence: the materials look high quality, there are no gaps or hastily cut connectors. The weight of the tablet is 520 grams, which is neither more nor less for its size. That is why it is perfect for work, study and easy relaxation while watching a movie.

Full set

When you first open the box, you will notice that the tablet is carefully wrapped in a protective film and paper. In addition to the gadget itself, you will find inside: a charger, certificates, a warranty card, a micro 2.0 USB cable, a card ejector. There is only one color - black.

Interesting fact! By the number of colors, it is easy to find out the attitude of developers towards the new product when it comes to smartphones and tablets. After all, the more colors, the more chances that the device will not stay on the shelves, which means that its performance and quality are much higher.

Lenovo M10 FHD REL Tablet

Display

Despite the rounded shape of the tablet itself, the screen got sharp corners. As we said, the display diagonal is 10.1 inches. This is a decent value for comfortable watching movies and reading files.

The screen is based on a budget, bright IPS LCD matrix with a display of 16 million colors. Resolution reached 1200 x 1920 pixels, at a ratio of ~224 ppi. The quality of the picture will be far from 4K and not even 1080p (videos will take a long time to load), however, 720p is quite enough for everyday tasks. The brightness of the tablet was 320 nits (or candela). The image is actually much brighter than the same new Samsung products with an Amoled matrix. The only negative is fragility. You need an eye for a liquid crystal display!

According to preliminary reviews of the Lenovo M10 FHD REL, it was revealed that the sensor is very sensitive and quickly responds to touch. It is also easy to adjust the color saturation for yourself.

CPU

The main advantages of Android 9.0 OS in the Lenovo M10 FHD REL tablet:

  • Immediately after launching the gadget, you are offered to set up the gesture system, which was first implemented in OS 9. With its help, time is saved significantly, moreover, the tablet independently builds optimal transition paths;
  • The beginnings of neural networks. This technology also seriously affects the performance of the tablet.
  • Easy interface, deep customization. And finally, after 3 versions of Android, the icons and interface have been redesigned, making the use more pleasant and less tiring.

The main problem with many tablets is poor performance. The race for the speed of downloading games and other applications is not so relevant, if it does not concern smartphones. The Lenovo M10 FHD REL, for example, has a Qualcomm SDM450 Snapdragon 450 processor (14 nanometers). For many, the 4th generation of Snapdragon will seem like a dummy that will only waste your nerves and time, but wait, close this article!

Through extensive reviews and testing, the power of the SDM450 Snapdragon chipset was found to be identical to the 6th generation (Snapdragon 625) processors. It is based on eight productive cores with a clock frequency of up to 1.8 GHz, not divided into clusters. This subtly hints to us that the tablet is not at all designed for games, its maximum is Talking Tom or Subway Serf, but certainly not WoT Light or Pubg 9.

However, if you are planning a gift for an unpretentious child, then the capabilities of the gadget will be quite enough.

An important role in the speed of the device is played by the Adreno 506 video processor, which helps to avoid overheating and failures of important programs.

When testing two competitors, Snapdragon 625 and Snapdragon 450, only 6 points more went in favor of the first, due to higher core frequency and memory bandwidth.While processor speed, integrated graphics level and task flow are almost identical. But the victory was so close!

Battery

An amazing paradox! Brands that produce gadgets with huge screens, powerful processors and a whole squad of cameras usually complement the picture with a weak 4000 mAh battery (and even then not always). While devices that are not intended for gaming or active use receive the maximum amount of charge.

At the same time, it is worth noting that Lenovo, at the beginning of its career, produced smartphones and tablets with high-quality batteries. M10 FHD REL, in turn, received all 7000 mAh. With the level of its ability to discharge, it will not even last three days, which in general is a very good indicator.

When using mobile Internet or WiFi, it will last about 4 days. And in the standby mode up to 10 days!

Camera

On the rear panel there is only one 8 MP main camera module with a primitive 2.2 aperture. Photos are frankly soapy, good shots mostly depend on luck, good light and the ability of the photographer.

The front camera took even less - 5 megapixels. In general, photography in tablets has always been weak, only if the brand does not position the device as a worthy replacement for a smartphone. In our case, Lenovo M10 FHD REL is a gadget with basic functions, from which it is silly to demand a picture like in an iPhone.

Color reproduction is average, pixels are noticeable in the photo, it does not cope well with shooting in the dark and twilight. But memory in bulk! 32 GB external memory + 3 GB internal.

Price

The first presentation of the tablet took place in January 2020. There are still no exact release dates, and even though they have been waiting for the promised three years, Lenovo is seriously late.The device with a greater degree of confidence will hit the shelves of Russian mobile communication stores and will cost between 12,000-15,000 rubles, depending on the region.

Pros and cons

Advantages
  • Big screen;
  • Beautiful, expensive design;
  • Capacitive battery;
  • Convenient dimensions;
  • Bright screen, sensitive touch;
  • Fast processor.
Flaws
  • Mark Corps;
  • Low pixel ratio;
  • Primitive features;
  • Weak cameras.

Conclusion

Our large-scale review is coming to a logical end, so it's time to take stock. The tablet is categorically not suitable for lovers of heavy games and high-quality studio shooting. Of course, he will launch Instagram, but it will only turn out to like other people's photos. That is why, when buying this novelty, do not forget who else will be the happy owner. Perhaps a small child who is not so important characteristics, or an elderly person who is not versed in technology, will appreciate the gift. Moreover, you need to charge it once a week, and if you try, then even less often. We wish you pleasant, and most importantly useful acquisitions!
