Recently, Huawei launched two very affordable smartphones: Honor 8A and Honor 8A Prime. At a similar price, the devices have quite interesting characteristics. Moreover, it should be noted the presence of an NFC chip. On the big screen, you can see a teardrop-shaped cutout where the front camera is located. These and other features are discussed below.

Honor 8A can be called a typical model from Huawei: standard screen frames, a waterdrop notch on the display, and a nice back panel. In this development, you can see the separation on the back cover: one part is glossy, and the other is matte. So, even such an inexpensive gadget in the hands looks very solid. The material is also pleasant to the touch, so you can’t immediately say that the smartphone belongs to a cheap series. This is where the design frills end.
Speaking of convenience, it should be noted that the device is thin and light, so it fits perfectly in the palm of your hand. As practice has shown, in the process of using the phone, grooves appear on the back side. This is due to the soft material, which is not able to withstand mechanical damage. Nevertheless, a case will come to the rescue here.
The screen is “protected” by an oleophobic coating of medium quality, as evidenced by the presence of a large number of prints that are not easily erased.
Separately, you should focus on the speech dynamics, which can boast of its quality. Voice transmission is clear and legible, there are no noises or third-party sounds. The sound is as natural as possible.
The fingerprint scanner is located on the back cover. There is also a flash and a rear camera lens.
The screen diagonal was 6.09 inches, and the resolution was 1560x720 pixels. Viewing angles can be safely called the maximum, and there are no distortions. Considering the segment to which the smartphone belongs, the display is perfect.
There is no need to complain about the brightness, even during the day any text is clearly visible. The minimum brightness value is optimal, because Even in complete darkness it does not blind your eyes. If desired, you can adjust the brightness for yourself, where each indicator is adjusted separately.
The model has a battery with a capacity of 3020 mAh. This solution is standard for inexpensive gadgets.
The built-in processor runs on a 12 nm process technology, so the device's operating time turned out to be at a high level. Often this definition refers to smartphones that work with a 4000 mAh battery.
Unfortunately, fast charging is not supported, so the overall impression is dulled here. Nevertheless, the possibility of purchasing a more powerful power supply than is included in the kit is not ruled out. Then the charging speed will double.
Honor 8A has 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. The standard RAM speed is 4000 Mb / s. The memory can be expanded using a microSD card. The processor is of good quality, but the overall impression is significantly spoiled by the speed of the memory. It is because of it that the smartphone slows down a lot and periodically freezes. Two gigabytes for a modern phone is too small a value, and the slow built-in memory aggravates the situation even more.
During normal operation, the phone works in standard mode, without failures. But during operations where memory is involved, the quality of the process drops significantly. Games can also be attributed to this: light applications like arcades will work smoothly, but any more advanced games will not be able to function normally. If we consider the device from this side, then it is extremely not recommended for purchase as a gaming gadget.
There is only one main camera. And you can argue here in different ways.On the one hand, the manufacturer could equip the model with a fake module to improve its external perception. On the other hand, you could add a real second lens, but then the price would increase. Therefore, this solution will be the most optimal for those who do not get hung up on the quality of photographs.
The resolution of the main module is 13 megapixels. And the aperture is f/1.8. Such indicators are more than good for the indicated cost.
Daytime shots are excellent. There are no complaints about sharpness, detail and color saturation. However, the presence of a shadow causes little noise. This is due to the low dynamic range.
If the photos are taken under artificial lighting, then a large aperture will come in handy. Thus, more light will be captured, minimizing the amount of noise. Therefore, the result will be acceptable.
Darkness, respectively, significantly affects the quality of the picture, but the detail can still be called good.
But the front is really amazing. The pictures are clear, bright and white balance without distortion. The model is perfect for those who like to take selfies.
Shooting video is simple, changing the lighting entails changing the exposure. Focus is fast, but not always in time. Darkness does not reduce the number of frames, but the noise becomes noticeable.
Summing up the above, we can conclude that the model has the best front camera in its price segment, besides, the rest of the characteristics cannot be called bad. Therefore, for those who are looking for an inexpensive high-quality smartphone, then purchasing the Honor 8A will be a reasonable decision.
The name already says that there is no need to wait for any special innovations, because. the model is an addition to its previous version. However, the device also represents a budget line. So, dimensions, camera specifications and battery are absolutely identical to Honor 8A. The thickness of the frames is still the same, the fingerprint scanner is located on the back cover. The main thing that upsets in both models is an impressive chin from below. This drawback is very striking and spoils the impression of the overall design.
The aspect ratio can be called optimal, so the user can freely interact with any type of content. Now, of course, you don’t often see phones with similar sizes, nevertheless, the device easily fits in your hand.
The color reproduction of any image is good, taking into account the indicated cost, but the pixel density per inch is low.
But the amount of memory has been increased, which contributed to improved performance. An outdated system is responsible for the graphics, so playing heavy games will still not work. An SD card slot is provided, so you can “add more space” if you wish, and this figure is twice that of the compared model.
The model almost completely repeats its predecessor, so chasing it specifically cannot be called a reasonable decision. In addition, you can look for more productive and modern models, where the best value for money.
They are almost identical to the younger model, additionally it can be noted:
Is it worth buying a new product from Honor and which model to choose between Honor 8A Prime and Honor 8A - the decision is up to the buyer.
