Keeping up with trends and new products is really important and very useful! This is especially true for people who want a good gadget at hand, but in order for the material to be of high quality, the case is beautiful, the power is “what you need” and the camera is always with a “zoom”. All these “wants” often cost a pretty penny. What is the problem?
The guest of today's review was the twin smartphone Vivo Y50, as they like to express themselves on the Internet. Such models completely repeat the loud sensations of brands, but the quality is slightly worse. But they are much cheaper! In general, the same story as with the magic prefix "Pro". And it is precisely for the sake of these analogues that it is worth following the releases and at least occasionally go on the hunt for discounts. This device is practically no different from the Vivo V19, but it costs 20% less. Tempting, isn't it?

Let's be honest, twin smartphones don't always get worse performance, especially when it comes to design. After all, as you know, the concept of beauty is extremely subjective. So, for example, Vivo Y50 is slightly larger than its expensive brother Vivo V19. Of course, more doesn't mean better, though... We're talking about a Chinese brand, so it doesn't matter.
Dimensions are - 162 x 76.5 x 9.1 mm. Compared to previous models, the smartphone has grown and expanded by a couple of inches. Let's focus on the width, since it is this parameter that is most important when it comes to ergonomics. Often, even a few millimeters decide how comfortable the device will fit in your hand. In the same case, the Vivo Y50 has acquired a more square shape, this should be taken into account (especially if the palms are small).
How surprisingly the brain is arranged, this insignificant detail already transforms the appearance of the smartphone!
We are moving towards a plastic, budget case. In terms of quality, nothing has changed, the phone is still in the middle price segment and is also vulnerable to scratches without a case.
There was a rollback in the "fingerprint cutout" column. Only users rejoiced that the buggy cutout on the rear panel was replaced with an optical one, when suddenly ... Misfire! The brand returns the fingerprint sensor to its rightful place. Meanwhile, the notch looks much smaller than on the same Xiaomi models.
But the camera has acquired a more aesthetic appearance, compared to chopped versions in other flagships. At the disposal of buyers will be immediately four lenses and an LED flash, enclosed in a neat narrow block. Below them will be the silver logo of the brand.
The front of the flagship even managed to grab compliments, as the look of the Vivo V19 received a lot of criticism. This concerns an unusual duo-selfie camera, which is something like a “capsule” underneath. Here, the developers returned to the classics - a small round cutout in the upper left corner. But, at the same time, the narrow “chin” on the display also returned, depriving the novelty of the title of “frameless screen”.
Having reached the box, the brand decided not to bother and it can be seen with the naked eye. No newfangled minimalism, interesting combination of colors. In other words, budget and even very.
Got inside:
That's all, dear users! As you can see, the crisis has affected everyone, which means that we will not see factory headphones or silicone cases in the kit for a very long time. The smartphone itself is presented in two rather unusual colors: starry black and iris blue. Both designs combined unusual graphic solutions. For example, iris blue is white, blue, dark blue spots and stripes throughout the body.

The screen has undergone the greatest changes in the novelty. First of all, the dimensions seem to be slightly, but increased, and the diagonal got a value of 6.5 inches. The advantages of the Vivo Y50 smartphone have become more, because right now phones are hard replacing laptops from high positions. The big screen only contributes to this. Text editing? Photo correction? Watching films? This gadget is ready for anything.
Secondly, the dimension of quality has changed into a completely different axis. The expensive Amoled matrix left the Vivo novelty, taking with it a convenient always-on-display mode. Behind it is a budget IPS matrix. It is quite fragile, because users lose pixels after 3 serious drops.
Don't forget safety glass!
The color rendition is at the same level and worthy of its money. This is at a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels (Full HD), very good news for gamers.
The pixel density suffered only slightly. In Vivo V19 - 409 ppi, and in Vivo Y50 a little less - 403 ppi. The brightness of the display does not cope well in sunny weather, so the characteristics will have to be twisted to the maximum, putting up with the rapid waste of the battery. In rainy weather, there are no complaints, with any deviation the screen does not give a negative.
This lucky guy got his hands on the latest version of Android 10.Increasingly, we hear about neural networks, smooth transitions, but the "top ten" contains much more surprises and chips. For example:
The power of the new smartphone has decreased by about one generation. The uninterrupted operation of such a tempting “ten” is provided by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665, developed using an 11-nanometer process technology, which has earned a reputation as a strong middle ground between 7 nm and 14 nm.
The chip pulls most of the heavy games with the help of 8 productive cores.Four of them received a clock frequency of 2.0 GHz, four more 1.8 GHz. Users, however, noticed that the version of the video processor has dropped to Adreno 610, which is why the case can become very hot. On the contrary, energy consumption is reduced.
AnTuTu Benchmark 8
Geekbench 5 (single core)
The final score of the Snapdragon 665 chip surpasses previous generations and versions in all respects by at least 30%.
The capacity of the non-removable Li-Po battery in Vivo Y50 has been increased to 5000 mAh. The duration of work without recharging is increased to two full days using the Internet and calls. In addition, the developers have added the 15 Volt Qiuck Charge function, and this is already a great gift for the middle, if not budget, segment.
We can say with confidence that this new product is far from being a camera, since the numbers and quality are rather weak. Let's take a closer look:
The main camera consists of four independently working sensors. The first of them received a value of ‒ 13 megapixels at f / 2.2 aperture. Its ability to transmit light is completely useless, so beautiful night photos will not work, rather a meat grinder of pixels, fuzzy lines and noise. Only the beginning, and already such a disappointment. The colors are also quite faded, especially noticeable in sunny weather when shooting outdoors.
The second sensor, according to tradition, is equipped with a 13 mm zoom, with a quality of 8 megapixels. It is supposed that it can be used to shoot videos, but for those who blog or instagram this option is not suitable at all, probably the audience will get bored due to poor color reproduction.
The remaining two 2-megapixel sensors are rather auxiliary, for the so-called “frame depth” and macro effect.
The value of the front camera compared to Vivo V19 has decreased by 2 times! The maximum quality is 16 MP. Not so bad, for nice shots with post-processing is quite suitable.
As mentioned earlier, the characteristics of the practically budget smartphone Vivo Y50 for 18,000 rubles are almost in no way inferior to the Vivo V19 for 24,000, despite the fact that the releases took place in parallel. Now 5000 certainly will not seem superfluous to anyone, which is why you should approach the purchase of equipment wisely! The novelty itself proved to be quite good, if you do not take into account the weak camera. For busy people, its functionality is more than enough, while teenagers will need more freedom.
