Review of the Vivo X50 smartphone with the main characteristics

On June 1, Vivo presented a line of flagship smartphones X50, consisting of 3 models. Interestingly, there is no mention of the X series on the official website of the manufacturer yet. According to forecasts, new gadgets can become truly unique, thanks to the built-in stabilizer - this technology is used for the first time in the production of mobile devices.

Main characteristics

Design

The novelty turned out to be really beautiful. Of course, the design cannot be called outstanding, but the thin elegant case made of glass, the unusual design of the camera on the rear panel attracts. The gadget is available in 3 colors - blue gray and pink. The camera module rises above the base by only 1 mm, the color of the frame is black.
Case material according to the manufacturer - durable plexiglass (which one is not specified), a thin metal frame - in the color of the case, does not stand out.

All buttons are located on the right side of the case (power on, volume control). The left side is “clean”, without elements. At the bottom is a SIM card slot and a charger connector.

AMOLED performs well in the sun - it will not be very comfortable to play, but you can easily see the information on the display, since the display remains bright and does not fade.

The only problem is burnout, as a rule, with the active use of blue and white colors. The solution is simple - do not set the brightness to maximum in the settings, but set themes in black shades for the design.

OS and interface

The company originally planned to delay rolling out updates to its devices due to the coronavirus pandemic, but it looks like the plans have been scrapped and the Vivo X50 came out with Funtouch 10.5 on the latest Android platform.

Of the innovations - concise icons that adapt to the color scheme of the display (the icons can also be selected and customized), which greatly simplifies the work with the device.

An interesting feature for fans of active games is the game box. The user is trained on a virtual training ground, after which it will not be difficult to track the location of a conditional enemy by the sounds of footsteps. In general, for fans of "shooters" - this is it.

In general, there are many useful features for game lovers. The "countdown" function - a pop-up window on the display will allow you to start the timer and go about your business without the risk of missing the next battle. Plus an updated "game assistant", which is useful for both beginners and advanced users.

The Snapdragon 765G chipset is a stable mid-ranger that can handle complex tasks and provide high energy efficiency.

An optical fingerprint sensor is responsible for the security of user data. Whether it works correctly and how long it takes to identify the owner is not yet known.

Sound

It seems that the manufacturer has put all his efforts into improving the performance of the camera. With sound, everything is not so rosy. The new Vivo X50 has lost its stereo speakers (as in the Iqoo Neo3 and Iqoo Z1 models). The gadget has one speaker at the bottom of the case - it is enough for watching movies, but not for listening to music.Yes, it’s loud, but a lot of high notes, middle, low and bass cannot be heard - it’s only good for the background music during training.

Another downside is the lack of a headphone jack. They will have to be purchased separately. The cost is 70 dollars. Let's hope that Vivo listened to the opinions of users and eliminated the shortcomings of the previous version - sound quality, noise suppression.

Of the pluses - the function of recording three-dimensional sound. Whether it will be useful in the absence of stereo speakers is another question.

Camera Specifications

Vivo's press release raises more questions than it answers. Will stabilization technology be used in all devices of the line, or only in premium versions. Searches in the public domain also did not bring much clarity.
The only thing we can say Vivo X50, even in the basic version, has excellent photo-video shooting characteristics. The camera consists of 4 sensors. The main one - at 48 megapixels allows you to take clear pictures in the dark and in poor lighting conditions. The optical stabilization function allows you to shoot video with a smooth picture (without jumps and sharp twitching) even in the maximum acceptable format.

The second module is a wide-angle camera of 8 megapixels (viewing angle of 120 degrees). The third is a 13-megapixel TV camera with a 2x optical zoom. The fourth is a 5 megapixel macro module with focusing on an object from a distance of only 1.5 cm. The indicator is, of course, unique.
The front camera of 13 megapixels is located at the top of the display (a small notch, which by the way does not irritate and does not interfere with the view). The picture quality is excellent, even in low light. You can also shoot video on the front camera.

Updated time-lapse functions allow you to select the time range manually. It is also possible to create a short video with a simultaneous overlay of an audio track on an image, plus editing and special effects. True, the duration of the video should not exceed 60 seconds. All these features, by the way, are rather the merit of updating applications.

Work Offline

The battery capacity is 4200 mAh, so it is difficult to call the device a long-liver. For example, the manufacturer himself indicates that the smartphone will last no more than 5 hours in video viewing mode. If you use the phone only in the call mode, one charge is enough for the whole day.

Additional functions

Nothing new here. Built-in satellite navigation system with GLONASS, GALLILEO support. Proximity sensors, periscope, accelerometer. Proximity function - protection against accidental pressing of the buttons on the display during a telephone conversation. Also included is a compass. Whether such a function will be useful to residents of megacities or not is unknown, but nevertheless, the function is useful.

Where could I buy

In May of this year, the company opened the official vivo.aliexpress.ru store, but there are no X-series gadgets on sale yet. X50Pro devices are offered on the trading platform itself, but in stores of other sellers. Attempts to find the Vivo X50 on Russian-language resources did not give anything. The sections have a description, without specifying the price with the status "pending".

By the way, it was also not possible to find information about the new product on the official website of the manufacturer, although they say that the pre-order for the Vivo X50 in China is already open. There is also information that gadgets have already appeared in free sale and offline, but again only in China.

Advantages and disadvantages

Vivo X50 turned out to be functional, smart and beautiful. But there are no extraordinary features. A sort of middle peasant for pretty decent money. Yes, the technical performance of the camera has been improved, but in return, the gadget has lost stereo speakers and a headphone jack. The announced TWS Neo wireless earbuds will cost an additional $70. High quality sound is promised, plus low latency, which will allow you to use the device for games.

• there are no headphones in the kit, as well as a connector for them;
• small battery capacity - only 4200 mAh;
• the case without protection will quickly lose its appearance (it quickly gets dirty, fingerprints remain);
• innovative built-in stabilization technology is provided only for premium versions.

So, if you like games, beautiful photos, then Vivo X50 definitely deserves attention. Music lovers or users who place high demands on sound quality should look elsewhere. In general, the gadget is worthy, the only thing that confuses is the high cost. Sales will start from $393 (the conversion into rubles does not make sense due to exchange rate fluctuations). Plus the cost of headphones, although it is possible that the company will develop a bonus program to increase demand.
