At the end of March, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo introduced a novelty with support for 5G technology - Vivo S6. Along with world-famous brands, the gadget turned out to be quite solid, stylish, interesting, with excellent characteristics and cool cameras. We will analyze in detail the main characteristics of the device, note the advantages and disadvantages of the model, evaluate the availability and quality.

The S6 5G smartphone was presented on March 31, 2020. On April 12, it is already launched for sale. In Russia, the model is expected to arrive in early summer 2020.

Design and appearance

This does not interfere with the overall look of the smartphone. For symmetry in the circle, there is not enough fifth chamber - instead of it, the manufacturer indicated the characteristics. Below the block is a two-tone LED flash, even lower is the Vivo branded logo, “lying”, from the bottom up, with a 5G technology icon.

The body dimensions of the device are as follows: height - 161.2mm, width - 74.7mm, thickness - 8.7mm. With such values, the device fits comfortably in a medium-sized palm, it is comfortable to hold it in your hand during a telephone conversation and during normal use. The device weighs only 181 grams. The thickness is sufficient to fit a capacious battery inside. The novelty will go on sale in three cold shades: black Black, blue-blue Blue and white-blue White / Blue. The double color combination is due to the transition from a light shade to a darker, denser one, which is unusually stylish and beautiful.

The ends of the device are standard, functional. On the left is a slot for installing SIM cards: two of them, such as Nano-SIM, operate in dual standby mode. You can also use one SIM, as convenient for the user.On the right end there are two long buttons: on / off and a volume control key. The case is made of metal, the protective glass Gorilla Glass of the 5th generation is installed on the screen. It protects the insides from water and splashes, but is subject to mechanical damage, scratches if the user is careless. The thin bezels give the phone a screen-to-body ratio of 83.2%. The touch screen reflects 16 million colors. The Multi-touch function during testing shows the simultaneous touch with several fingers at once (up to 9 touches). The matrix is ​​considered active, the organic diodes in it are light sources and are highlighted separately. Black pixels remain unlit, so less energy is consumed.

The Exynos 980 chipset from Samsung operates on an 8 nm process technology, which is responsible for the quantitative indicator of operations performed by the core simultaneously in 1 cycle. At the same time, the heating of the processor is minimal, the battery charge is consumed more economically. The GPU Mali-G76 MP5 graphics accelerator from ARM Limited with five units is aimed at the artificial intelligence of the system, at encoding and recording video in certain digital formats. Through the Cortex cores, the computing process is faster, artificial intelligence functions during the operation of virtual assistants - it recognizes speech, during the operation of cameras - shooting conditions, object identification, etc., optimizes the operation of the hardware as a whole. The device practically does not heat up, the processor power is designed for games from the Play Market, which can be played at medium settings.

The device does not have a slot for installing an additional memory card. The manufacturer considered that the built-in memory is quite enough: with 8 GB of RAM, the internal hard drive is 128 and 256 GB. Both versions of the model will go on the market. UFS 2.1 storage is considered the fastest type of storage for Android smartphones. The technology automatically connects at the right moment and starts interacting with all parts of the internal system. Reading and writing data is carried out on two lanes simultaneously.

The manufacturer installed the Android 10.0 operating system with the main applications and programs, together with the Funtouch 10.0 proprietary shell, as a novelty. The latter is periodically updated. The shell decorates menu icons, icons on the desktop. The slightest touch on the screen smoothly scrolls through the pages. Shell features:

The built-in antennas of the device support all communication standards: 2G, 3G, 4G (LTE) and 5G. 2G bands are designed to work with a phone with SIM 1 and SIM 2 cards.
