Mobile devices have ceased to be a luxury, now it is more and more a vital necessity. It is becoming increasingly difficult to do without a quick call at the slightest need. Manufacturers have formed their attitude to this trend: the release of expensive flagships and the replenishment of budget lines have become equivalent. Demand is growing and production is growing along with it. In the smart technology market, new items among inexpensive devices are increasingly beginning to appear.
One of these new products was the Nokia C1. The super-budget version was introduced by the company in December 2019. Its cost will be about $60 and this is one of the lowest price steps for a smartphone. How users will react, and whether there will be demand, time will tell. But the name of the manufacturer should play a positive role in sales. Nokia has always been distinguished by reliability and endurance. Whether these indicators remain the same can be seen from customer reviews.

Classic design, harmony of size (147.6*71.4*8.7 mm) and weight (155 grams). Why pretentiousness and arrogance in external design, if the device is intended to be a "workhorse". Convenient dimensions for use in any purpose. The smartphone will comfortably fit in the palm of your hand, fit in any pocket, and in a horizontal position it will perfectly serve as a display for viewing any files and easy Internet surfing. The weight is more than sufficient: it does not weigh down the pocket, but it is also felt in the hand. Losing and not noticing will be difficult.
Smooth lines of rounded corners of the case, bezels familiar to Nokia: narrow on the sides and wider at the bottom and top. The speaker, flash and front camera are located on the top frame. The back panel is smooth, at the top in the center is the main camera and LED flash, below the brand name. The side panels have changed roles, it's a bit unusual, but quite tolerable: on the left is the on / off button, on the right are slots for SIM cards and flash memory.
On the top side panel is an indispensable 3.5mm headset jack, the bottom one is a place for a microUSB charger.
Available in two classic colors - black and red. Colors are not diluted, saturated and pure. The case is made of high-quality plastic, but it does not have super protection against mechanical damage, so scuffs and scratches will inevitably appear over time. Although there are covers and silicone bumpers for this, which will easily solve this problem.
Type - IPS LCD capacitive touch screen with up to 16 million colors and shades. This type of screen is standard in budget smartphones. A good solution in terms of quality and cost. Acceptable image transmission, eye protection, anti-glare system when exposed to direct sunlight.
Display size 5.45 inches or 76.7 sq. cm. The ratio of this parameter to the body of the phone as a whole is ~ 72.7%. Pixel resolution 480 x 960 at 18:9 aspect ratio (~197 ppi density).
These characteristics are great for any user purpose: comfortable reading, viewing photos and videos, convenient Internet surfing. Good viewing angles also contribute to this.
There is protection against mechanical damage upon impact or fall - tempered glass.
The super-budget smartphone was equipped with a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, the name of which remained undisclosed. But, it is worth noting that it supports the LED flashes of both cameras. Presumably it's still MediaTek. It is difficult to characterize the chipset in more detail, the origin of which is not exactly known.
The operating system is Android 9.0 Pie (Go edition). This pure Android was originally created for use in inexpensive smart phones with up to 1 GB of RAM. Its main features are:
All together, this is a great solution to common problems that users of entry-level smartphones have: performance lags, insufficient storage space, data management and device security.
The available amount of RAM is only 1 GB. This may not be enough for the stable operation of the operating system that came with the device. Android 9.0 Pie, although a clean version, requires more space to work correctly. Built-in memory 16 GB. This is the standard volume for this class of devices. It is also expandable via microSD up to 64GB. There is a dedicated slot for additional memory.
The new Nokia budget smartphone is, first of all, a device designed for affordability. Its parameters strictly correspond to its class and nothing supernatural should be expected. That is why both cameras do not differ in super abilities, but perform narrowly limited functions at the most primitive level.
Location on the rear panel, in its upper part, in the center. A single 5MP camera is supplemented only by an LED flash without additional sensors. Despite the fact that you don’t have to wait for something grandiose, you can still take pictures and shoot. Led flash creates favorable conditions for shooting in limited light. Even dynamic photos come out in relatively normal quality. Taking into account, of course, the provided parameters.
The classic location is at the top of the front panel above the display. There is also a separate LED flash that improves the brightness and quality of the resulting images. The intelligence of the device has not been identified and does not provide any improvement in the resulting images. There is a primitive photo editor with which you can eliminate some of the shortcomings.
Only very good lighting can save the purity and clarity of pictures. Focusing takes a certain amount of time, so you will have to wait a bit between shots. Even two separate flashes cannot significantly affect the quality if the camera itself has a low resolution.
The quality matches the cost. This should be remembered when considering any budget-class device.
Removable lithium-ion battery, 2500 mAh. The battery itself is endowed with the properties of fast charging. This feature is characteristic of lithium-ion systems. Self-discharge depends on the temperature of the device. Given the completed volume, it makes no sense to expect excellent performance. But the smartphone can normally work in passive talk mode for about 5-6 hours. Internet surfing in active mode will undoubtedly reduce the charge level faster, but it will also last 2-4 hours, depending on the activity.
Having considered all the parameters and characteristics of the new super-budget smartphone from Nokia, we can say for sure that the task of creating an affordable device has been completed. Undoubtedly, this model will find its customers. In terms of price class, the quality of the phone is appropriate, but it can be used in work.
